Fall 2007

This year’s October camp at the Mohammed Ali Training camp in Deer Lake, PA was an awesome experience. This was the first camp that Grandmaster Chris Thomas was able to attend, so all of the students there were treated to his instruction. It was finally clear to all those in attendance why Grandmaster Thomas is the Co-author of all of the George Dillman Books. He is an incredible seminar instructor!

Also in attendance at the Fall Ali Camp was Master Bill Sharp from Oklahoma. Master Sharp has studied Judo since 1953 and is a 7th Dan. He has also studied other Martial Arts and is very high ranked in Jujitsu. Master Sharp put on quite a show with his student and friend David Melton. Everyone was amazed at how this 74 year old man could throw his Uke around with relative ease.

Another guest at the camp this year was Anthony Kelly Carson. Mr. Carson is the genius Grandmaster Dillman emailed everyone about that developed artificial intelligence in a computer. He is heavily involved in a big project with DKI that will be unveiled next year. Saturday afternoon he gave us a demonstration on his computer using the head of Abraham Lincoln. His computer program animated Abe so that he could be asked questions. He not only answered the questions, but he also asked questions back to learn who he was talking to.

All in all it was a great camp as always and a good time was had by all. Next year’s camps will be posted on the DKI website.

Early this fall we got the Small Circle Jujitsu syllabus DVD’s completed. They will normally be given out to new members as part of a startup package and at each promotion for learning the next level. Contact me if you want more information on Small Circle Jujitsu ranking.

I just got back from London, England where Grandmaster Paul Bowman hosted his second UK Dillman Camp. Grandmasters Ken Smith from Chicago, Grandmaster Matt Brown from New Hampshire and myself were featured instructors at this second installment of the UK Camp. This camp celebrated George and Suzie’s first wedding anniversary and George’s 65th birthday.

While those events were very important there was another event that made history. Grandmaster Dillman finally accepted his 10th Dan promotion. He is now officially Professor George Dillman! His promotion was signed by Professor Wally Jay, Professor Leo Fong, GM Chris Thomas, GM Paul Bowman, GM Matt Brown, GM Jean Paul Bindel, GM Ken Smith and myself. Paul Bowman asked me to make the presentation because I had been training with Prof. Dillman the longest of those who were there. It was a tremendous honor to be the one to make the presentation.

Professor Dillman will teach his last seminars of the year on December 1st in Portage, Indiana for GM Bill Homann, on the 2nd for GM Mikey Wittekiend in Peoria, Illinois and on the 8th of December for GM Matt Brown in New Hampshire.

It is my sincerest wish that you all have the warmest and happiest of holidays. See you in the New Year!
